How to shorten links, use aliases, QR codes, and manage your links on lnk1s.com

1. Shorten a link

  1. Paste your long URL into the input box on the homepage.
  2. Click "Shorten Now". The system runs a safety check (see section 5) and creates the new link.
  3. Click to copy, or to view/save the QR code.

If the original URL was already shortened before, you'll get back the existing short link instead of a duplicate.

2. Custom alias

Click "Custom Alias" below the input box to pick your own name, e.g. lnk1s.com/summer-sale instead of a random 6-character code.

  • Only lowercase letters, digits and hyphens are allowed; other characters are automatically converted to -.
  • The alias must not already be taken, and cannot match a system path (admin, account, login...).

3. Recent links (no login required)

The homepage keeps your last 10 links in a browser cookie (valid for 30 days) so you can find them again quickly. This is stored locally in your browser only - switching device/browser or clearing cookies removes this list (the links themselves keep working, only the history view is lost).

4. Create an account for long-term management

To keep your links accessible across devices, or to edit/delete them later, create a free account before shortening. Links created while signed in are tied to your account and manageable at /account/:

  • Edit: change the destination URL (re-checked for safety from scratch).
  • Delete: permanently removes the link; the short code stops working.
  • You can only edit/delete your own links.

Links created anonymously (before signing in) are not automatically attached to your account.

5. Safety review

Every submitted link is automatically scanned (domain/keyword blocklist plus AI) before it's created. Once live, a link is always in one of three states:

  • Approved - works normally, redirects automatically.
  • Suspicious - flagged by a periodic re-scan; still reachable, but visitors see a warning and must manually confirm before continuing.
  • Rejected - blocked by an admin, no longer accessible.

6. System limits

Each IP address can create up to 50 links per day to prevent abuse. Once the limit is hit, you'll need to wait until the next 24-hour window.

7. Custom QR logo (Pro/SS tier)

Every link comes with an auto-generated QR code (click the icon on the result to view/save it). Pro or SS tier accounts can upload their own logo (PNG/JPG/GIF/WEBP, max 3MB) in Account Settings - it gets embedded in the middle of the QR code for every new link you create from then on.

  • Doesn't affect QR codes of links already created, or links belonging to other users.
  • Not yet on Pro/SS tier? Contact an administrator at support@lnk1s.com.
  • Without a personal logo, QR codes still work normally (using the site-wide logo if the admin set one, or no logo at all).

8. Account tiers

A signed-in account not yet upgraded by an admin uses the shared Guest level. Higher tiers unlock a few extra perks when creating/managing links - quick comparison:

Tier Random code length Min. custom alias Skip redirect wait Custom QR logo
Guest10 chars10 chars
VIP6 chars6 chars
Pro4 chars4 chars
SS2 chars2 chars

The numbers above reflect the system's current configuration and can be changed by an admin. To request an upgrade, contact an administrator at support@lnk1s.com.

FAQ

Why was my link rejected as "unsafe"?

The destination matched our domain/keyword blocklist, or was flagged by AI as risky (phishing, scams, gambling, malware, etc.). If you're confident it's safe, try again later or contact an administrator for review.

How long do short links last?

Indefinitely, unless removed by the account owner or an administrator for a policy violation.

Can I see click stats for my links?

Yes - go to Analytics inside /account/ to see clicks by day, device, browser, and your own top links/referrers.

My alias says "already taken" but I don't see anyone using it?

It may already be used by another link (including one created anonymously, without login), or it matches a system path currently in use (admin, account, login...). Try a different name.

I forgot my account password, what now?

Click "Forgot password?" on the login page to reset it yourself via email - no need to contact an administrator.
